Fear and Suffering: Sharing My Heart With Naked Honesty
Suffering after awakening, pain as medicine, and more...
Men: The Tao of Man is TOMORROW and Sunday! You’re free to join either day, or both days. This free online men’s retreat is a gift to help you know yourself, return to wholeness, unlock creativity, and deepen into the Tao of artful manhood. Join us in the Telegram group where I’ll share the Zoom link tomorrow, and/or register to join us here to get the link via email.
A couple days ago, I recorded the following video, with the intention to simply share vulnerably and nakedly from the heart, as if I were sitting in a sacred men’s circle.
I wanted to give men a sense of what it is like to sit in circle and witness a man sharing his process with openness and courage.
I spoke transparently about the pain, fear, anxiety, anger, and suffering I’ve been experiencing the past few months—during the dark night I’ve been going through.
I spoke also about the fallacious idea that awakening is the end of suffering—and about the way in which pain is an incredibly powerful medicine for humbling us, deepening us, opening our hearts, and connecting us to all beings on Earth.
Have a listen, and if you feel moved to do so, let me know what you think:
Thank you for existing.
You are poetry.
Love,
J
