Suffering is Not What it Appears to Be
It's a friend, a great teacher, and far beyond what words can say

“When the “shit hits the fan”, this is a good sign, as are synchronicities — things are loosening up.
Massive apparent shit-storms in life can be a good sign.
Losing a job, ending a marriage, winding up on a friend’s couch for a while…
These can all be indicators that structures built on confusion and misalignment are breaking down.
Clearing space for beautiful new possibilities to flow into your field.
Disrupting normalcy.
Shaking you out of your default everyday trance so you can notice reality in more sensitive and revelatory ways.
Suffering is a great teacher.
A friend.
It’s also not what it appears to be.
Look very closely at what the pains are made of.
Be with them as direct energy-presences.
Be with them microscopically, with x-ray vision, as if inspecting a mysterious and unknown buzz of sensory data.
As if curiously scrutinizing totally foreign phenomena.
Then what is suffering?
Suddenly you can’t really say.
It’s another weird flavor-texture passing through the field.
Vanishing as soon as it appears.
Constantly morphing into something new before you can pin it down.
Let it be.
Let it all flow through.
Be porous, spacious, non-solid, see-through.
Then the river simply moves through…
And there’s no one there to judge one ripple as ‘better’ or ‘worse’ than another.
Love,
JB
