What Is Inside You, Must Come Out
One way or another... In a beautiful way or a messy way...
What is inside you, must come out.
All your suppressed emotions, wounds, sub-personalities, karmic debris, and so forth.
It’s all gotta come into the Light at some point.
You have two main options here:
1. Learn to let it out consciously, through art, creativity, meditation, breathwork, & other healing modalities.
2. Or, wait until it leaks or explodes out in messy ways, likely splattering the people around you with your undigested psycho-emotional goop.
Art is a really powerful way to let stuff out.
And not just let it out, but even SUBLIMATE & TRANSFIGURE it into something beautiful—something that can be inspiring or illuminating for others.
Draw it, sing it, paint it, rap it, sculpt it, write it, fictionalize it, film it, etc.
There are SO MANY ways that art allows us to take what is inside us, and EXTERNALIZE it in the form of unique artifacts of the soul.
This is a really powerful form of self-discovery and shadow work.
You can learn SO MUCH about yourself through art.
Rap Music as a ‘Theatre of Self’
As one example, I treat my rap music as a kind of ‘theatre of self.’ I give voice to different parts of myself and let them interact with each other.
It feels almost like releasing various self-energies and bottling them up in an etheric flask or aquarium.
I’m then able to gaze upon these externalized aspects and sub-personalities. I’m able to feel them deeply, see them clearly, bring love to them, accept them, heal them, integrate them, and hold them in the fires of the Open Heart, such that they can be cleansed, liberated, returned to their natural state, and harmonized with the totality of my being.
Through this process I increasingly learn that nothing within us is to be feared. The most gruesome, contorted, hideous aspects of us that we so fear to look at, are akin to our own wounded children—desperately in need of our loving acknowledgement. The pieces of us we least want to see, are the ones most in need of our unconditional Love. This goes for everything ‘inside’ as well as ‘outside’ of us.
And, miracle of miracles, as these pieces are held in Love, their frightening masks fall away, and they reveal themselves for what they truly are: Beautiful children of God who had simply become resentful and venomous due to being neglected, rejected, and misunderstood.
I have come to believe that there is nothing in anyone else that is not also in me. And I have come to believe that all parts of us ultimately yearn to return to Wholeness and to synergize in support of the blossoming & upliftment of all of Creation.
Love is the master key.
First we utilize art or other means to “make the unconscious conscious”—to turn ourselves ‘inside out’ and find out what we’ve been hiding from ourselves.
Then we hold it all in Love—unflinchingly, unconditionally, to the best of our abilities.
This is how we heal ourselves and heal the world.
This is how we gradually discover that all our angels and all our demons secretly yearn for the same thing: Love.
Every single thing in existence just wants to be seen clearly for what it truly is, and loved just as it is.
All our angels and all our demons secretly wish to be on the same team—harmoniously dancing together for the upliftment of All.
And as we see ourselves more and more clearly, we gradually realize that this is already the case: Near as I can tell, at the end of the day, mysterious as it might seem: All serves Love. Ain’t that a humdinger of a riddle?
It’s a paradox, though: On one level this world is already a harmonious dance of Love. On another level it’s a bloody war for the soul of mankind, and there’s much work to be done.
Art can help us do this work.
